Trust My Gut and Keep Going

Hey guys,

Today I visited with my pain management doctor.

I have to say it went pretty well. Although there is no prognosis for such a wacky condition of RSD the doctor says I am still moving in the right direction 🙂

Yes, I was nervous but as I stated earlier I didn’t have the horrible gut feeling that I have had in the past. I have to remember to trust my gut.

I do have to try to stay out of the frekin cold though!  Something very hard to escape when its 7 degrees outside.

My Visit With The Doctor

Hey all,

Today I have an appointment with my pain management doctor.

I haven’t seen him in a while but I have progressively continued to beat RSD.

I’m always a little nervous to see him and hear what he says.

I’m nervous for sure, but I don’t feel that pain in my gut that I have felt in past visits.

So I guess I’ll have to wait and see what he says.

~Hopeful 🙂

Reasons for Gratitude

Hey guys,

I want to explain my gratitude journal. I think I have posted about it previously but

here is a refresher for those who haven’t read it.

My gratitude journal helps me recognize all the little things as well as big things that are good in my life. It helps me look at the big picture.

Picture this: You’re having one of those stressful days where you say to yourself and maybe out loud, “Why me!” When people feel like this typically, at least for me, I feel like “everything is wrong everything bad happens around me blah blah blah.”

While it feels like that in the moment, I allow myself to let out the crumby feelings. Then I think about what it is I can be grateful for. There are times I can’t see it but at those times I’ll read my gratitude journal and it truly helps. I have so much to be grateful for! Yes, even the sun!

The sunny days have a nice effect on my energy as opposed to a grey cloudy day. Besides, its easier for me to walk outside when it’s nice out, big plus.

One of my favorite things I am grateful for is the fact that today is a new day, and tomorrow is another new day. This is a very powerful thing to know. If you know you can start fresh tomorrow, than you can let go of today.

I think looking deeper into our lives, there are many things to be grateful for.  It is important for everyone to recognize these things. Something about writing them down makes it even more powerful. It brings positive energy.

Here is what I propose:

*Every day think of something you are grateful for, write it down, and put it somewhere you will most likely to see it, maybe hang it on the refrigerator.

Eventually you can start a Gratitude journal. However I think the first step is to try it out where you can see it all day.

*So hang it somewhere you can see it read it and think about it every time you pass it by.

Go on give it a try, it is worth it! 🙂

You’re a Nice Doctor

Hey Guys,

Today at the hospital there was a six year old boy who was just admitted this afternoon.

When I came to him he couldn’t wait to talk, an adorable chatterbox.

We played checkers and he beat me. He was very verbal in telling me things that hurt or how he felt. He told me he was nervous to be there and that he didn’t want to play alone. Of course he’s nervous most kids are he just was able to verbalize it.

His mom was there however, it seemed they were both in their own clouds today. I have seen his happen sometimes. Anyway he wanted me to stay there to play all day.

This kid was funny he spoke pretty well too. During our game at one point he told me I’m a nice doctor. I smiled and was like thank you so much but I’m not a doctor I’m your child life buddy. He kept saying a few times I’m a nice doctor. It was priceless.

I was happy to play with him a while. 🙂

There was another little boy who when I introduced myself to him he was at first nervous because he thought I was a doctor about to examine him. When his mom told me this I answered no, I’m not a doctor I’m here for fun 🙂 I  asked him if he was up to it if maybe we can play some games. He smiled.

I also helped a precious little girl who is non verbal developmentally delayed and adorable. She was crying. When the nurse handed her to me I sat and held her in the chair and rocked her in my arms. She became calm and relaxed. I can tell she was listening to me even though she doesn’t make eye contact. She was responding when I spoke softly to her. She was touching my hand and was making noises that sounded like light relaxed sighs when I spoke to her. After a bit she looked like she was going to fall asleep, I had the nurse assist me to put her in her crib. She was upset for a moment but looked like she was tired. It really warms my heart that I was able to help her relax.

I also visited a little one I think 10months old. Beautiful alert Spanish baby girl. She was blowing me kisses. And I played with her while she jumped around in her crib. So sweet!

I love this gig!

YO Paleo!

Hey guys,

I have been trying to make time to bake again. When I have the apartment to myself its  easier for me to experiment.

I found a recipe of Paleo Granola on one of the great blogs I found online.

So far it smells good, looks good, we’ll have to see how it tastes!

I’m not sure if I crushed the nuts too much as it wasn’t chunky. But it still smells good 🙂

I used:

Golden raisins

Shredded Coconut

Almonds

Cashews

Pumpkin seeds

Sunflower seeds

Coconut oil

Vanilla

Raw honey

Sea salt

Paleo Granola

Paleo Granola

I may have over done it with the raisins. I then sprinkled salt and pressed the hell out of it to ensure a flat surface. Right now I’m letting it cool…
