Well last weekend I had my graduation ceremony in Manchester, New Hampshire! I am an official graduate, (although I have had my diploma since October 2014-just saying). Nonetheless it was a special occasion and a huge accomplishment that I am so happy I experienced!
Now as some of you may or may not know where I left off with my Child Life path, it is time for an update. It turns out I did not get an internship for the summer program. I knew it would be very competitive and most of the hospitals only had 1 slot with several applicants.
I accomplished all-said requirements of the Child Life Council before applying to internships, including the child life course taught by a Certified Specialist. With those all fulfilled, I attempted to, I suppose cut corners, skip getting the masters and take a chance on getting an internship without it.
However, as time had gone by more internship programs were preferring the students who have their masters. Furthermore, the Child Life Council is going to be requiring a masters in a few years.
As I wasn’t having luck of acceptance into an internship program I decided I wanted and needed to develop more of a foundation in Child Life that would prepare me for the internship and on the job. With that, I decided to apply to graduate school!
I just got accepted into Grad school and I will be getting my masters in Child Life!
I cannot wait to continue the next chapter of my journey!
Over Thanksgiving I found a book by Chris Kresser called Your Personal Paleo Code. Some time ago I was trying a Paleo diet and things got in the way and than I wound up trying something else. However, when I was following Paleo I realized it worked for me. When I looked at Kresser’s book I became encouraged to really try it and follow through again. I decided after Thanksgiving weekend, on December 1st I started the first step that the book goes over, the Paleo Reset 30 days. I have been staying with it and have been working out and walking daily. I feel more energized and even better, I already lost 12.5 pounds!
I am so excited! The great thing about the diet is it really is more of a lifestyle because it really isn’t depriving and I can eat real food no protein powders or shakes.
I’m going to hold on with all of my might and will get through Christmas and Christmas Eve-when with my family it can be very difficult. But If I can resist that then I will be fine!!
*Happy and Healthy Holidays All!
Today I was officially able to send out my Child Life Internship Applications!!!!!
It took a lot of poking and gnawing at people to get my transcripts and courses completely reviewed. But Finally after much determination and persistence on my end I got everything needed to mail out the complete application!
I had to put two hospitals applications on hold, as one is postponed until 2016 and the other is not accepting applications until June.
I applied to some hospitals that are for summer session! As a back up plan I applied to some that are in the fall session!

*To new beginnings!!!!!
Miami is so great! Last night we hit delicious Red steakhouse (fav) for dinner!
I am having a great time with family and friends while enjoying my break from school, and catching the beautiful rays!!!!
On Sunday night I went to an interesting meditation class using bowls. It was a little weird at first as it is involves listening to the sound of different bowls and just taking in and focusing on breathing. One sound was a bit difficult for me as I felt it through my entire body but then it was a soothing experience. At the end I wasn’t 100 percent taken by it but I’ll try it again. In the mean time today I found another meditation class that sounds so great! I will be going to it on Sunday. One part sounds interesting as it is a walking meditation, not sure how that will work but we’ll see.
So while I am here I have been trying to take advantage of the warm weather. The last few days I have been doing a lot of rehab. I have been taking long walks with my dog Roxie. Today I walked even more than yesterday. I have also been… walking on the beach!!!! Its crazy yesterday and the day before with sneakers for the first time in two years I made my way on the beach! I then sit down and do physical therapy by putting my bad foot in the sand and really working it with the new texture! It really hurt but I did it!!! I also put on another different shoe the other day! I also am wearing regular sock on more often. I am on my way!!!!!!!!!
Like I said, New day New year. Off to greater things, getting in shape, in real socks, and cuter shoes. 🙂
~On my way!
